Chewing solidified fir sap found that it was a wonderful way to quench thirst, thanks to the excitement produced in the salivary glands.. Chewing gum has multiple health benefits, according to a study presented at the Tenth International Congress of Behavioural Medicine held in Japan (2008).  After conducting a series of experiments with 40 subjects 22 years of age, they come to the conclusion that gum eases anxiety, improve alertness, increases concentration and reduces stress. In fact, after chewing gum, levels of cortisol-the stress-hormone in saliva are reduced up to 16%.
