Candy, social change and maps of taste around the world

What is candy? How and when is candy consumed? What is the most popular flavour of candy in each country? Where and how is candy sold? As children, which candy left a mark on you for life? There are endless questions to ask about this often demonized food, and until now, no rigorous sociological research has been done on candy. We are convinced that much is to be learned in the process of exploring an element that is a both powerful and very common.

The Candy Project is an opportunity for a serious analysis of candy. It can be seen as a risk factor for health, but also as an indicator of diversity in eating models. As synthesized food, but also as a reward or a gift. Is it possible that candy is the ideal tool to start a food movement based in positive values?
The Candy Project is about to start. Many of the greatest revolutions of modern life have started at a very small scale. An almost fractal scale. The atom forever changed physics, genes have had a profound impact on biology, the bit in computing and technology and pixels in visual arts. Could we speculate that the next big revolution in the field of food might begin on a very small scale too? Could this revolution be driven by candies?
